Food Park Adventure

Food parks are everywhere! It's like they're popping in every corner of the metro. It's a fun and hip place to go meet up with friends and bond with your family, though personally I think that this is just one of those foodie fads that will fade in time.

Entering a new food park emits a certain sense of excitement and wonder, people are eager to explore a cool and instagrammable spot, enjoy a lovely 'party' atmosphere with friends, and best of all discover new food finds from all types of cuisine. This is very popular with the millenial crowd and fooling ourselves to think we were part of that generation, my friends and I decided to check the latest place where foodparks were in abundance - MARIKINA.

First stop: Crave Park
Swag points: 4 dabs out of 5
This might be one of the best in the metro so far, all cool points have been ticked from its instagrammable murals to the fusion food and bucket drinks they offer.
The only downside is the customer to table ratio is so not enough. You have to ninja move yourself from the crowd to find decent seating.

Second Stop: Truck Park
Swag Points: 3 dabs of out 5
The next place we went to was quite near Crave, it prides itself as the first park that offers cashless transaction. Basically all you need to purchase anything here is to queue for a card which is what all merchants use and it will automatically deduct the amount ala Timezone cards.

My plus points here is there comfy (though not smell friendly) toilet. It looks like a lobby instead of somewhere you do your business at. I also think that they offer the most diverse and unique food choices but a strong downside is their mode of payment. Instead of the easy seamless transaction that they wanted to achieve, it takes twice the effort since you have to line up for the card THEN line up again to order your food. Hungry people cannot wait y'know haha

Last Stop: Carnivale Food Park
Swag Points: 2.5 dabs out of 5
From the outside, Carnivale looked really promising with its very bright lights and ferris wheel busts but going inside there wasnt much food to choose from. The reason people go to food parks is they can find food that one doesnt usually find in airconditioned restos, so you sweat it out to satisy your cravings. The interiors were also less than stellar, the chairs and tables were monoblocks and the place (and crowd) looks like the common 'peryahan'. If that is what they were going for, then they got it. There were still a lot of people but maybe its just not my thing.

All in all, it was quite the trip both for our feet and our stomachs. It was fun and as always we had a boatload of laugh. Will I go back? Probably BUT only when someone asks me to go with them. I could very well get my craving fix without travelling all the way to the shoe capital of the Philippines is what I mean. Till our next food adventure... Laters baby! 😊
