Zeybu choo!

We woke up bright and early to start the day, we were to become Taoist for a few hours. We got to the the temple and had to hike a quadrillion steps to reach the main building. It was worth it when we got to the top, it was like we were transported to China circa Mulan times hehehe...

Taoist Temple

They had several mini temples for each god, one for business, another for travel, another for health, and so on.

We entered the biggest temple last where we lit an incense and made wishes by using a half moon shaped wooden thingies. It was said that the god's answers the individuals wishes and prayers thru the wooden half moons. You throw it and when it's both up, its maybe, if both down its a no, but if its one up and another down, its a yes. Funny thing is that I got the maybe and the yes mixed up so I kept repeating and rephrasing my question when it was actually already a YES... The gods must have been scratching their heads, if only they can shout my bloopers to me hahaha..

Kung Fu Fighting

As usual, the boys were wannabe kung fu masters! They kept on making meditation faces and martial arts sounds ("paging Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan!")...

When we hiked back down and strolled the Beverly Hills, we had to try the ever famous Cebu lechon. I personally wanted to see what all the ruckus was all about. How different was it from Iloilo's lechon or Manila lechon. Lunch was at the famous CNT Lechon and boy, was I disappointed. The best part of the lechon which was the skin was not crispy, it was obvious that the pig was roasted hours ago and wasn't as fresh as could be. Mama tried asking the lady chopper to get from the other pig with crackling like skin but was not entertained stating it was for the Take out orders. Whaat?!

Aside from the skin, the meat itself was TOO salty! I even felt the rock salts they used to marinate the pig. The dinuguan was fairly OK but not amazing. It was enough to fill our hungry tummies but I wouldn't go back for a second visit.

CNT's salty suckling pig

When we had our brief rest, we still had a few hours to spare so we decided to go to Sugbu Museum. I love that Cebu has a number of museums and REAL ones at that, not the meager specimen of artifacts that we have in Museo Iloilo.

Ahoy there!

Ackie was excited to see the cannons and the ancient bones, jars, and artifacts. They had clothes and factoids for every era from pre-spanish to post japanese.

You want one of these?

Each room has a different period of the Philippine history. They had Japanese money (Mickey Mouse money) in bulks! Different types of old typewriters, cameras, and stereos.

My favorite was the room with all of the presidents of  the republic. It even had each of their signatures engraved in gold with tidbits about what each president contributed to our country's history.

Sugbu museum also had a quaint cafe that served coffee made of corn and sticky rice made of organic ingredients.

Native foodie high

While waiting for Manang to arrive after dusk, we headed to Ayala. Ackie played and made friends and the  Papa and I went to have coffee. An americano for a true blue coffee drinker and a mocha frappe for me hehehe.
Coffee date with Papa
After some time, the rest of the gang asked where we were and joined us for some java fix as well. Mama and Auntie Ed had some sisterly bonding talk while we were in a separate table convincing Tata to join us in the Edge coaster later. Tata has a fear of heights and we told him this is the best way to face and conquer his cowardly ways. Tsk tsk! We were not persuasive enough hahaha

Slurp slurp!

Here are a few pics of what Tata missed:

I had a fun and exciting time with the Edge coaster and Skywalk. It was nice sharing laughs and this experience with my Pops. He is the cool adventurous dad every kid wishes they had. He had a ball scaring me while we were in the Edge coaster.

Eyes wide CLOSED

We were wrestling with the control, I keep on making the seat upright and he would tip it over while I scream and shut my eyes to mini slits.

Papa having a blast

Up, up, here we go...

All four of us were certified airwalkers. My bro and his wife even wanted to try out the zipline that they were fixing up, you can zipline from one building to the next. Maybe next time, Noot!

Our Crown Regency experience

At around 9 something, we had dinner in Larsian AGAIN! We planned to eat in one of the restos in the terraces but it was so late that it was already close for sure. So off we went that way Manang could also experience the smoky goodness of the larsian atmospehere

Rice, anyone?

Rice earrings hehehe
We loved their rice in banana leaf so much that we made it our earrings hehehe. Tired and ready to doze off, we head back to the hotel since we had another early day to prepare. Bohol, here we come!!!
