Solo Travels: Siargao Surfin

Image
Third and sadly, my last day in Siargao. Of course, I wont pass up the experience of surfing in one of the best surf spots in the world. So off I woke bright and early, headed to Cloud 9 surf spot with my not so trusty action cam and prepared myself to own those waves. Greeting the sunrise with the early birds gave a certain sense of excitement like a kid on Christmas morn. I carried my rented surfboard and waded through the shallow water in Cloud 9, waited for the right wave and off I went flying in the water - both literally and metaphorically. There are times that I glided - feeling like a pro haha but most times wrestling the waves like a clumsy gymnast with two left feet. Two hours passed by too fast and since I still had a flight to catch, I went back to land and returned my board. Since I was unable to catch it on my first attempt, I dropped by a chill cafe just a few steps from Cloud 9 called Cafe Loka. They offer 3rd wave coffee so I definitely had to get myself a

Selfie Siargao

After a brief stint in beautiful Siargao, a lot of people have been asking why I have weirdly placed tan in my arms and legs?  Well, this is the main reason for it and needless to say I overdid the im-a-cool-chick-i-do-the-peace-sign-everywhere gig... And got myself a bit of a headache twirling about but it's all worth it exploring this super chill and amazing island!

Solo Travels: Siargao Island Adventure

Image
Day deux and I woke up early to greet the sunrise in this amazing island, my island tour was not until 10 am but I went to the meet up place an hour and a half early so I can get some java fix before the trip.  I was a lone traveller so I signed up for this group tour in Bravo Resort. They organize island tours for solo travellers (as well as groups) which I think is a great way to introduce the island and meet new people, without the need of emptying your pockets to hire a whole boat just for one person or two. While waiting I enjoyed a glass of iced latte with a bamboo straw, props to creativity and environmentally friendliness!  Fast forward a few minutes and we are in the middle of the Gatorade Blue waters of Siargao excited to set foot on our first island. There I was surrounded by different nationalities and various languages intermingling with excitement above the loud banka motor. Then it was time for our first stop: NAKED ISLAND! Naked Island is not a nudist

Solo Travels: Stoked in Siargao

Travelling has become an essential de-stressor of the Millenial age, everyone jetsets to far off lands and cities whenever their time and money allows. Most likely than not we check seat sales and travel promos on the net more than we reach out and talk to our loved ones. Not me though, I always talk to the parentals whenever I can *wink wink* hahaha One of the most sought after travel destinations in the Philippines is the mystical island called Siargao. It's a destination must for all surfer enthusiast and wannabes out there. It boasts of amazing waves, picturesque islands, great food, awesome drinks and pretty much a perfect place to chill, regroup and experience the island life... I was booked for a 3 days/2 nights stay in the island, and let me tell you if you do plan to travel to Siargao, 3 days is NOT enough. I left the good ol Metro at around 10 in the evening with a layover in Cebu. I planned to drop by and check some of their good cafes there since my Siargao

Roadtrip Diary: Surftown chill in Elyu!

Image
La Union has always been my haven, the perfect place to recharge my weary soul. It is my secret sanctuary, the vibe is both calming yet full of dynamic energy. Although its known as a surftown, La Union specifically San Juan also boasts a hipster and eclectic crowd. You cant help but put your feet up and just chill! Cool new restos have sprouted left and right where as before you had to travel all the way to the main town to get a decent meal. There is an awesome 3rd wave coffee shop that doesnt seem to have a slow day, a hip hamburger joint next to a hole in the wall tapsilogan spot, a cozy bohemian resto which is part of a cool hostel, an authentic greek and mexican resto are just a few of the notable establishments that has sprouted here. I stopped by La Union for just a nights rest after driving from Baguio. My first stop was in the very popular El Union Coffee. They are the first third wave cafe in Elyu and as I notice has a very loyal fanbase. What I love about this place i

Food Park Adventure

Food parks are everywhere! It's like they're popping in every corner of the metro. It's a fun and hip place to go meet up with friends and bond with your family, though personally I think that this is just one of those foodie fads that will fade in time. Entering a new food park emits a certain sense of excitement and wonder, people are eager to explore a cool and instagrammable spot, enjoy a lovely 'party' atmosphere with friends, and best of all discover new food finds from all types of cuisine. This is very popular with the millenial crowd and fooling ourselves to think we were part of that generation, my friends and I decided to check the latest place where foodparks were in abundance - MARIKINA.  First stop: Crave Park Swag points: 4 dabs out of 5   This might be one of the best in the metro so far, all cool points have been ticked from its instagrammable murals to the fusion food and bucket drinks they offer. The only downside is the customer to

Hello 2017!

Image
Dear Blog, its been a long time! Three years to be exact...  I’ve been thinking of going back to blogging for some time now but I never seem to have the time. I had all the excuses: busy at work, busy with the biz, meet up with friends but truth is I was just plain lazy and didn’t push myself to actually start AGAIN.       2017 is the year of weirdness though. And in line with that I oddly gave myself the necessary push to make just one teeny weeny entry. I thought to myself that it would be a great new year’s resolution to be more productive and bring the blog back to life. So with so much further ado… Join me with my ramblings, travel and definition of normalcy. A few years older and quite a lot of stuff gone by since but then again we will have enough time to cover all that.   This gonna be a great year!!! (PS. I can't believe its already the second month of the year!)
